Under Section 17 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, the Council is required to carry out a polling district boundary review within the 16 months from 01 October 2013 and every 5 years thereafter. The last review took place at the end of 2013 / early 2014 and the next review is scheduled for 2018. Reviews do not affect the ward, county division or Parliamentary constituency boundaries.
A full review of all existing polling districts, including polling places and polling stations is undertaken in accordance with current legislation (Representation of the People Act 1983, Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 and Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006) and Electoral Commission guidance. Findings and representations received are then reported to the Electoral Services Working Group and a final report of proposals and recommendations are presented to Full Council for approval.
