The Core Strategy and Development Policies Proposals Maps identify the Special Protection Area designated under the EC Habitats Directive, Special Area of Conservation designated under the EC Birds Directive and Sites of Special Scientific Interest designated under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 that are in the National Park. The sites support many characteristic, rare and endangered species, habitats and natural features. The policy seeks to ensure that protected sites and species are protected and that the natural environment is conserved and enhanced.
Core Policy C is made up of multiple datasets, most of which are supplied by Natural England. To be sure of having a complete map of Core Policy C tall the following layers should be used together to gain a complete picture of the policy, as the layer does not exist in its complete form:
NYMNPA:
Section 3 Coast
Section 3 Moor and Heath
Section Woodland.
Natural England:
Heritage Coast
Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
Special Protection Areas (SPA)
Special Areas of Conservation (SAC)
Sensitive Marine Area
National Nature Reserves
In additional there are areas of Regionally Important Geological and Geomorphological Sites available within the District of Redcar and Cleveland which should also be added to make a complete layer of information
