Forest Service Sub-compartment Boundaries (INSPIRE View Service)

The dataset is the smallest managed unit internally of Forest Service forests. A sub compartment is an area of land that has similar land use, species, habitat composition, age, thinning and harvesting operations and needs to be managed as a single unit. Each sub-compartment has a range of attributes in relation to land use and if forested, tree species composition and management. Boundaries change due to harvesting operations, resurveying and updates and improved accuracy of the LPS vector basemaping and orthophotography it is overlaid on. Sub-compartments are grouped together to a larger management unit of compartment based on physical features and similar composition. Attribute Fields: FOREST_NO – forest reference number FORESTNAME – name of the forest BLOCKNO – block identifier SC_NO – sub-compartment identifier FSGISCODE – unique reference code for the block GISAREA –area in hectares PLUO – land use objective PLUC – land use category of components PYEAR – year component planted COMP_NO – compartment number
