Forest Service Dense Parkland in Forests (Metadata)

The dataset is areas of 'Dense parkland' that is defined as forested habitat of limited extent consisting of widely spaced mature, veteran or ancient trees where canopy cover exceeds 20% of the land area. It can include underplanted or regenerating areas that were previously more open in character e.g. Belvoir forest. Parkland excludes arboreta meeting HAP criteria. Dense parkland is a Secondary Land Use Code (SLUC) designated in the Forest Service sub-compartment database. SLUC are attributes applied to sub compartments, for forest management purposes, and for reporting in relation to Primary Land Use Objectives.
