Community Infrastructure Levy (“CIL”) is a standard charge collected from developers on a rate per square metre basis after their planning permissions have been implemented and the funds raised are spent on infrastructure to support the development of an area.
The charging authority sets out its levy rates in a charging schedule (see section 211(1) of the Planning Act 2008).
