British Geological Survey (BGS) Sampling Survey 1968/10: Forth Approaches (08/Jul/1968 to 19/Jul/1968)

This British Geological Survey (BGS) marine sampling survey took place in July 1968 in the Forth Approaches on board a 50ft fishing boat MV Girl Anne III. The work was of an experimental nature partly designed to evaluate equipment and technique. The purpose was to obtain data for regional geology mapping. Sea-bed samples were collected using a shipek grab. Sediment cores were collected using a gravity corer. These data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in IGS report 70/1.
