British Geological Survey (BGS) Geophysical and Sampling Survey 1976/EM/6: Regional Mapping Programme: East of Shetland Islands (15/Sep/1976 to 27/Sep/1976)

This British Geological Survey (BGS) regional geophysical and sampling survey took place in September 1976 in North Sea, east of Shetland Islands on board the MV Emerald. The purpose was to gather data which could be used to map the regional geology of the area. Seabed samples and cores were collected using IGS Shipek grab, Gravity corer and midi drill and Bedford Institute of Oceanography drill. Sea floor data were collected using a echo-sounder and a transit sonar. These data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in BGS Internal Report 76/9.
