British Geological Survey (BGS) Geophysical and Sampling Survey 1976/CH/7: Scotland (01/05/1976 to 16/05/1976)

This British Geological Survey (BGS) regional geophysical and sampling survey took place in May 1976 in North Sea, west of Scotland on board the RRS Challenger. The purpose was to gather data which could be used to map the regional geology of the area. Seabed samples and cores were collected using IGS Shipek grab, Gravity corer and midi drill and unmanned submersible Consub. Sea floor data were collected using a echo-sounder and a precision depth recorder. Subsurface seismic data were gathered using a pinger. These data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in BGS Internal Report 76/7.
