Initiated in August 1968, with the UNESCO standard WP2 vertically hauled net. WP3 was introduced vertically in March 1969 and became a horizontal tow (~10min) in circa 1974. The UNESCO standard vertically hauled P200 was introduced in 1972. Sampling was undertaken on a monthly basis where possible. P200 and WP2 were hauled from approximately 50 m, four times and collated to cover a net distance of 200 m and a net volume of 50 m3. Flowmeters have been fitted to recorded actual volume.
Analysed faunal abundance data (identified to species level where possible) exists from 1968 to 2008, with samples from 2008 to present collected and currently under analysis.
